As my “mini-experience,” I went to the Next Lives Here Summit and adjacent Innovation Showcase. During the Summit, I listened to Spark UC, a series of speeches by several UC entrepreneurs about changing their community. One in particular that I remembered was by an African American about introducing diversity in the workplace. When that was over, I went to the Innovation Showcase, but since the event was wrapping up, not many people remained. The experience itself wasn’t my cup of tea, but I got a connection to UC’s Hyperloop team, which sounded pretty interesting. I didn’t seem to learn anything, and the talks seemed to be inspiring for future entrepreneurs, rather than showing everyone how to change the community for the better.

One can easily make an impact on the community, however, if the community is conducive to business environments in the first place. Knowing this, the first step in improving communities is to introduce a catalyst for development and making sure that the new developments are sustained. I aspire to assist in this by introducing, renovating, and maintaining transportation infrastructure. By making it easier for people to commute and use services, the area becomes more attractive to businesses, and more real estate is produced.
