Explore Leadership
In the summer of 2018, I took a seminar entitled Explore Leadership, partially to get in the mindset of a leader so that I could perform better in my co-ops, and partially to aid in alleviating my performance anxiety. The weekly meetings were classes on what makes a good leader, exploring what personality traits I had that would make me a good leader, and leadership building activities, such as a mini-retreat at a summer camp, or giving another group of people instructions verbally. In addition, the class would be expected to participate in every session by discussing either a reading on leadership or just their prior experiences, which helped with my performance anxiety. While the seminar did not help in the short term as I am not leading any projects in my co-op, I hope to apply what I have learned in this seminar in any future co-ops or a full-time job when I am put in a position of leadership.

This seminar also taught me how I personally would lead; I would be mentally organized and keep a strict, but lenient schedule and pay extra attention to the inner workings of followers' projects, seeking to understand them.

Attached are documents I composed describing what leadership means to me at the beginning and at the end of the semester. The first document is in the style of a memo to an organization in which I personally am interested; I chose WSP USA for their work on large-scale transportation projects.
